Whittier Art Association and Gallery

The Whittier Art Gallery is honored and pleased to have Victoria Pflanzer as our 2024 Miniature and Small Works judge. Victoria's passion for photography began in her teenage years, capturing the breathtaking beauty of Northern California's Cascade Mountain Range. In her early 20s, she honed her skills as a portrait studio photographer before pursuing formal education in the field. She majored in Photography at the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, which led her to a successful career as a professional advertising photographer in Los Angeles County.

While Victoria thrived on the creative challenges of working with large companies and advertising agencies, life’s journey took her in a new direction. After earning a teaching credential with an art supplement and a Specific Single Subject in Photography, she found her true calling in education. Today, Victoria proudly teaches photography at Benton Middle School, a Visual and Performing Arts Academy in the Norwalk–La Mirada Unified School District.

Deeply inspired by her students, Victoria remains connected to her roots in nature, dedicating time to photographing the beauty of the outdoors. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and has earned awards in a variety of competitions, including the Hillcrest Art Festival, Los Angeles County Fair Photography Contest, Anaheim Art Association Annual Exhibit, City of La Mirada Photo Contest, and the Arts Colony of La Mirada’s Mirrors of Your Mind Art Exhibit.

Victoria’s lifelong commitment to her craft and her enthusiasm for teaching continue to inspire her art and the next generation of photographers.
