The Whittier Art Association was formed in 1934, with the goal of bringing art into the growing community of Whittier. The Association built the Whittier Art Gallery, in 1939, and began exhibiting the work of many of the most prominent artists in the Southland. For over 80 years the Gallery has provided monthly art exhibits, at no charge to the public. The Whittier Art Association and Gallery is a nonprofit 501 (c)3.
As a non-profit arts organization, the services we provide to the community depend upon membership and donations. There are many ways to support the Whittier Art Association and Gallery through tax-deductible donations. The Fred Van Suchtelen Memorial Award is one way to support artists.
